XERF® Consultation in LondonUnderstand the science, current evidence and whether XERF may be appropriate for your individual concerns during a comprehensive doctor-led consultation.

Choosing an energy-based skin tightening treatment can be confusing, particularly when different technologies make similar claims. During a XERF consultation, the focus is not on selling a treatment, but on understanding your concerns, assessing your skin and discussing whether XERF or an alternative approach may be appropriate for you.

Our consultations are designed to provide balanced, evidence-informed guidance. You'll have the opportunity to discuss your goals, understand how the technology works, review its potential benefits and limitations, and ask any questions before making an informed decision.

01 · Quick introduction

What is XERF?

XERF is a non-surgical technology that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy as part of an approach to skin tightening and tissue remodelling. During treatment, controlled RF energy is delivered into targeted tissues with the aim of producing a thermal effect beneath the skin while helping to protect the surface.

Unlike treatments that rely on surgery, XERF is designed to work by delivering energy rather than making incisions. It is one of several energy-based technologies currently available and should be considered alongside other options during a comprehensive medical consultation.

A consultation is an important part of the decision-making process. Every person's skin, anatomy, medical history and expectations are different. A doctor can assess your concerns, explain how XERF works, discuss the current evidence, outline potential risks and limitations, and determine whether this or another treatment may be more appropriate for your individual circumstances.

Clinical philosophy

"A consultation is not a step toward a treatment. It is a conversation designed to help a patient reach a decision they understand — including the decision to do nothing at all."

03 · How XERF technology works

How Does XERF Work?

XERF is designed to deliver controlled radiofrequency (RF) energy beneath the surface of the skin. Rather than working on the outer layer alone, the technology is intended to target deeper tissues while carefully managing energy delivery.

The goal is to deliver thermal energy in a controlled manner. How this energy interacts with tissue depends on multiple factors, including the treatment settings, the area being treated and individual patient characteristics.

  • Radiofrequency energy

Radiofrequency is a form of electrical energy that has been used in medicine for many years across a range of specialties. Devices differ, and RF technologies should not be assumed to work in the same way as one another.

  • Controlled thermal effect

The intended mechanism is controlled heating of tissue. How tissue responds to that heating varies, and no specific biological outcome — including collagen change — can be assumed or guaranteed.

  • Treatment delivery

Energy is delivered through a specialised handpiece using predefined treatment parameters selected by the clinician. Settings may vary depending on the individual assessment and the area being treated.

  • Individual response

Every patient responds differently. Results, recovery and suitability vary between individuals, which is why consultation matters — there is no universal treatment plan suitable for everyone.

Interactive learning module

Layer 1 · Surface anatomy

The skin surface and its layers

The skin is made up of the epidermis at the surface, the dermis beneath it and deeper subcutaneous tissue. Different treatments are designed to act at different depths, which is one reason technologies are not interchangeable.

Educational module. Content is general in nature and is not a substitute for individual medical advice.

Understanding how a technology is designed to work is only one part of informed decision-making. An equally important question is what current scientific research tells us about its safety, performance and limitations.

05 · Evidence-based care

Evidence-Based, Patient-Centred Care

At Dr Vahe Clinic, we believe every treatment recommendation should be based on your individual needs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Our doctors combine clinical experience, current published evidence and a thorough medical assessment to help you make an informed decision about your care.

During your consultation, we’ll take the time to understand your concerns, explain the available treatment options, discuss potential benefits and recognised limitations, and answer any questions you may have. If XERF® is not considered the most appropriate option, we will discuss suitable alternatives.

Personalised Assessment

Every recommendation is tailored to your medical history, skin assessment and treatment goals.

Evidence-Informed Practice

Treatment recommendations are guided by current published evidence together with clinical judgement and individual patient assessment.

Clear & Honest Advice

We believe patients should receive balanced information about potential benefits, recognised limitations and alternative treatment options before making any decisions.

Patient Safety First

Your safety is our priority. Suitability for treatment is assessed individually, and no treatment is recommended without an appropriate medical consultation.

06 · Consultation suitability

Who May Be Suitable for a XERF® Consultation?

There is no single treatment that is appropriate for everyone. Suitability depends on a combination of factors, including your concerns, skin quality, anatomy, medical history and expectations.

A consultation provides the opportunity to discuss these factors with a doctor, review the available options and determine whether XERF or another approach may be more appropriate for your individual circumstances.

The consultation is intended to support informed decision-making rather than recommend a particular treatment before a full assessment has been completed.

What May Be Discussed During Your Consultation

  • Your medical history
  • Your main concerns
  • Skin quality and anatomy
  • Previous treatments
  • Lifestyle factors
  • Realistic expectations
  • Alternative treatment options
  • Potential risks and limitations
  • Timeframes and recovery considerations
