Choosing an Aesthetic Clinic: Questions to Consider
Choosing an aesthetic clinic is a personal decision. The questions below are intended as general consumer guidance to help you think through what matters to you — no single answer determines that a clinic is right for you, and professional registration on its own does not guarantee a particular outcome.

Who will assess and treat you
Ask who will conduct the consultation and who would perform any procedure being considered. Their name, professional role and registration should be available on request.
Professional registration
The registration status of regulated professionals — for example doctors, dentists and nurses — can typically be verified through their respective UK public registers. A current registration does not on its own guarantee outcome quality, but is a useful minimum check.
Whether the consultation feels thorough
A useful consultation typically explores your concerns, background and priorities before any option is discussed. Feeling heard, understood and unhurried is a reasonable expectation.
How suitability is assessed
Suitability considered individually — accounting for medical history, current medicines, previous procedures and realistic goals — is more informative than a generic recommendation.
How risks and limitations are explained
Any procedure carries potential risks and has limitations. A responsible discussion covers what an option can and cannot achieve, and what could go wrong, in language you understand.
How consent is handled
Written information and a clear consent process — including time to consider the information before making a decision — support informed choice.
Aftercare and complications
Ask what aftercare is provided as standard, how you would contact the clinic if you had concerns after a procedure, and what would happen if a complication occurred.
Transparency of prices and policies
Clear information on fees, deposits, cancellation policy and what is or is not included allows you to plan without surprises.
Whether you feel pressured to proceed
You should not feel rushed into a decision. Time-limited offers, discounts contingent on same-day booking or persistent follow-up designed to encourage a decision are worth treating with caution.
How photographs and testimonials are presented
Any before-and-after imagery or testimonial content should be presented responsibly and with appropriate consent. Consider whether the images and quotes reflect general context rather than a promise of a specific outcome for you.
