Understanding laser hair reduction
We describe laser treatments as hair reduction rather than permanent removal, because response varies between individuals and treatment areas. Some hair regrowth is possible over time and cannot be ruled out.
Suitability may depend on hair colour, skin type, treatment area, medical history, medicines, hormonal or medical factors and how skin has responded to previous treatments. A consultation is used to review those factors before deciding whether the approach is appropriate.

What may be discussed?
Depending on the outcome of the assessment, the doctor may discuss:

- patch testing, where clinically indicated

- referral or medical assessment, where hormonal or medical factors may be relevant
Not every option will be suitable for every patient, and no treatment is required following consultation.
